Updated [19/July/23] The amalgamation of nature and wildlife is the best way to rejuvenate the mind and body. Not many will disagree that getting the taste of both during a holiday will work wonders. Planning to have one such break? How about tailoring a tour from Wayanad in Kerala to Nagarhole National Park in Karnataka? Sounds fun, right? Let's chalk it out!
Wayanad is a best-loved weekend getaway from southern Karnataka. Commence your trip of Nagarahole Tour Package from Wayanad.
Reach Wayanad from Kozhikode airport or railway station, which will take up to 3 hours. KSRTC buses are also routed from significant cities like Kochi, Trivandrum, Mangalore and Bangalore. On reaching Wayanad, on the first day, relax for the rest of the day in your hotel or resort room, as you will be boarding your room by late afternoon. Campfires are arranged in most of the lodges. You can sit by the campfire and spend time reading books, listening to music, or singing song and chit-chatting with others.
On the next day, boost up for sightseeing at Wayanad. Have your breakfast and pull up your socks to make the most of the day. Sightseeing spots for the day include Edakkal Caves, Soochipara Waterfalls, Neelimala View Point, Lakkidi View Point, The Chain Tree, Pookode Lake, Wayanad Heritage Museum and Phantom Rock. Return to your retreat in the evening and call it a day.
On the third day of your trip, conduct some more sight visits to Chembra Peak, Banasura Sagar Dam, Banasura Hill, Kuruva Island, Meenmutty Waterfalls and Thirunelli Temple. If you can afford to devote an extra day or two then you can ease down the above-mentioned sightseeing list. Moreover, you can add Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, Pakshipathalam and Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary. But for a couple of days let's just skip the wildlife part as we would be heading towards Nagarhole National Park the next day.
Coming to day four, after breakfast check out from the hotel at Wayanad and drive to Nagarhole National Park. The distance is approximately 45 km and will take 1 - 1.5 hours to reach there. On checking in to the hotel at Nagarhole, freshen up, have your meal and get some rest. Embark for a jungle safari in the evening slot. Jeep and bus safaris are available to explore the wildlife amid the woods of Nagarhole.
On day five or the final day of your trip, go for a morning safari. Nagahole National Park houses Bengal Tigers, however, spotting one is not guaranteed. Other fauna attractions include the Asian Elephant, Indian Black Leopard, Chital, Sloth Bear, several species of birds, and many more. If you plan to spend the entire day at Nagarhole then post safari engage yourself with some nearby sightseeing to Kabini Dam, Iruppu Falls and Rameshwara Temple. Go for a third round of safari in the evening.
Wrap up your trip the next day. Check out from the hotel and transfer to Mysore to board your train or flight back home. If there’s time for your scheduled departure, then employ it to visit the Mysore Palace. Also, if you wish, give a day’s halt in Mysore to visit Tipu Sultan Summer Palace, Karanji Lake, Mysore Zoo, Jaganmohan Palace, Freedom Fighter’s Park, etc., along with the Mysore Palace.
